Withdrawal of paint strippers containing DCM or Methylene Chloride.
Several studies into the risks posed to human health by dichloromethane (DCM) in paint strippers have confirmed that the risks were of genuine concern, and so the EEC passed legislation to address the problem.
As of 6th December 2011, retailers can no longer sell their remaining stock of DCM paint removers to professionals or the general public.
As of 6th December 2012, it will be illegal to use DCM paint removers.
